A Brief Overview Renders Occupational therapy services to an assigned caseload of children who are seen in at least two settings at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Contributes to the advancement of Occupational Therapy practice through education of staff therapists, patients / families, interns and other health care providers when appropriate.

What you will do 1. Clinical - 80-90% Direct Patient Care Responsibilities Evaluation: Able to select and administer standardized and non-standardized evaluations on individuals with complex medical, social, psychological issues independently, using advanced problem solving skills to identify necessary resources, including but not limited to adaptive equipment, splinting and casting needs. Ability to identify subtle impairments and its impact on function and disability and develop a plan of care that integrates therapy into the lifestyle of the family. Documentation: Develops individualized therapy plan which includes measurable goals / objectives for treatment, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members as appropriate. Is thorough, complete and reflects integration of all areas of patient care with an advanced knowledge base and ability to interpret assessment findings. Intervention: Provides advanced procedural interventions. Provide and instruct in the use of adaptive equipment splint and casting needs as clinically indicated. Family Centered Care: Patient education is family centered by considering family lifestyle, environment, learning needs and collaborative goal setting. Results of patient/client interaction include high level of patient satisfaction, reduced risk for impairment, promotion of wellness, identification of community resources. Instructs relevant family members, caregivers and other team members in therapeutic strategies and accommodations and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching. 2. Education Professional Development- Maintains current skills and knowledge by identifying own learning needs, both formally and informally, to practice a lifestyle of life-long learning. Clinical Education- Provides mentorship to staff and students in identified areas when appropriate. Contributes to the current Occupational Therapy body of knowledge via presentations, in services / learning opportunities both in and out of the department when appropriate 3. Interdisciplinary Communication and Coordination of Care Ensures patients and families receive appropriate, comprehensive, efficient and effective quality of care from admission through discharge via relationships that are developed with other health care personnel, both internal and external to CHOP. Able to negotiate differences in opinion within a team and come to the best decision for the patient. 4. Research Applies research to practice Encourages, participates and promotes activities that establishes op imal outcomes of patient management provided by Occupational Therapy. 5. Administration Contributes to department policy/procedures via program development, evaluation forms and clinical guidelines when appropriate. Maintains productivity and fiscal responsibility in the utilization/provision of services Contributes to the development and modification of departmental / hospital systems as needed due to growth and / or changes in clinical programs when appropriate when appropriate. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy Required Skills and Abilities Implements all clinical services in accordance with the professional standards and guidelines of AOTA and other regulatory agencies, as well as hospital and departmental P&P. Participates in 20 hours documented continuing education within the previous two years, at least 50% of which occurs outside the primary place of employment. Licenses and Certifications Occupational Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or Occupational Therapist (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) - upon hire - Required
