Job Description Summary

This is a part-time position based in Philadelphia, PA. Only currently enrolled students are eligible to apply.

The Holman Biotech Commons' Digital Fabrication Lab seeks an energetic student worker to join our dynamic team which provides highly popular 3D printing, scanning, cutting, and poster printing services. Reporting to Head of the Digital Fabrication Lab, the student worker will be mentored in these high-tech areas, and will participate in planning new services. The newly opened Holman Biotech Commons operates as an integral part of the Penn Libraries system and provides cutting-edge services and resources for the University of Pennsylvania community.

Job Description

This is a part-time position (20 hours weekly max), based in Philadelphia, PA and open to currently enrolled students only.

Primary responsibilities include:• Provide support for 3D printing operations.• Process 3D printing, 3D scanning, and laser cutting requests• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment• Research new technologies for 3D printing, scanning, and cutting• Maintain inventory and manage purchasing• Analyze usage data and prepare related reports• Develop documentation and instruction materials and teach workshops• Provide 3D-printing and design consultation services to patrons (faculty, staff and students), in-person, by phone and virtually (e-mail and chat).• Provide backup support for poster printing operations.

Qualifications:• Current graduate student in engineering or related field.• In-depth knowledge of CAD, 3D-modeling and graphic design software.• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to follow and document processes.• Service orientation.• Tech-savvy. Enthusiasm and aptitude for technology and self-learning.• Excellent interpersonal skills.• Affinity for working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.• Attention to detail.• Humor is a plus!!!!
