TDI Technologies, Inc. Jr. Data Scientist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 2708729 Description TDI Technologies, Inc. is seeking candidates for a Jr. Data Scientist position. The position's main responsibility will be to gather, format, and analyze information from Navy Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. The position will require knowledge of machine learning methods and modeling development and training. Candidates should be comfortable working within an engineering team, designing new software solutions, and interfacing with customers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop code and test modeling approaches for shipboard systems using real and simulated shipboard sensor and status data from control systems. 2. Incorporate algorithms and model designs into software solutions and pipelines that solve our customer's data analytics challenges. 3. Prototype and demonstrate TDI Technologies' data science capabilities to prospective customers.

Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor's Degree in a statistical, mathematical, computer science, or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university 2. 0-2 years of experience in an engineering, software development, or data science role

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance. 2. Must have a valid US passport OR the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Essential Skills: 1. Software development in Python 2. Working knowledge of machine learning and/or artificial intelligence frameworks such as scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy 3. Knowledge or some experience with at least one of the following problem types: Time-series classification, regression analysis, optimization, clustering 4. Some software development experience and operation within Linux and Windows based systems 5. Knowledge of version control tools such as SubVersion or Git 6. Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail for documentation 7. Willingness to convey technical problems and solutions to a variety of team members Additional Preferred Skills: 1. Experience identifying trends and problems through data analysis. 2. Supporting efforts to combine analysis from multiple data sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently. 3. Experience supporting scalable process solutions prepared with big data, data driven Machine Learning tools such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy, Natural Language Processing, and implementing data models and developing data sources to support organizational solutions. 4. Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of naval shipboard Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems preferred. 5. Knowledge or experience with development and deployment of Docker containers 6. Knowledge or experience with orchestration using Kubernetes 7. Knowledge or experience with DevOps tools and practices 8. Knowledge or experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) 9. Knowledge or experience with rotating machinery, industrial automation and controls, or vibrations analysis Travel: This position may require up to approximately 5-10% travel. Location:  Philadelphia, PA. This position will allow for some remote work but will also require attendance to in-person meetings at the Philadelphia Navy Yard offices as well as at government development and lab facilities.
