Adaptimmune Director of Project Management - US in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager has become available in our Project Management Department. We require a proactive, motivated and experienced Project Manager, who is able to adapt to an evolving business. This individual would be assigned to key projects in the organisation. Adaptimmune is a fast paced, exciting cell therapy company that is growing to meet its expanding portfolio. A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer.

Primary Responsibility

Provides strategic and operational leadership for end-to end projects to ensure the effective progression of projects within Adaptimmune’s global portfolio, from pre-candidate selection to support of late stage clinical projects/commercialization.

Works closely with the Project Leader, to ensure smooth running of the project.

Provides strong leadership to project teams by:

  • Supporting the Project Leader to set the strategic direction for the project and articulate the value proposition for the potential product

  • Turning strategy into clear, coherent, yet flexible development plans

  • Ensuring project(s) are regularly reviewed and continue to meet Adaptimmune’s business needs.

  • Managing the day to day operational activities for the project(s), such as:

  • Identifying and resolving key issues

  • Performing regular Risk Analysis

    Key Responsibilities

  • Manages projects of varying complexity and/or multiple projects independently

  • Develops and coordinates resource planning across functions to assure that adequate resources are being applied to the project

  • Maintains high level and detailed timelines, working closely with project team members to assure consistency with functional departments timelines,

  • Tracks the various parts of the timeline and brings issues to the Project Leader’s attention. Participates in resolution, and updates the timeline on an on-going basis

  • Works with project team members to ensure that the project team meets the project objectives on time and on budget.

  • Works with Project Leader and functional project team members to ensure positive team spirit and high functioning project team

  • Supports Project Leader in leading Project Team meetings

  • Ensures that key issues are resolved within the project team or are elevated to management for resolution

  • Prepares monthly progress reports and ad hoc reports as required

  • Identifies project risks with input from functional project team members and identifies strategies to mitigate against these.

  • Drives regular lessons learned sessions to help share learnings throughout the business.

  • Ensures that decisions made at project team meetings are assessed as to their impact on the current plan, budget and available resources.

  • Ensures that team recommendations related to project direction are endorsed by appropriate Governance Bodies

  • Recommends and implements best practices across project teams e.g. resource capacity planning, project risk management, team performance, timeline development, portfolio management

  • Participates in development of Project Management tools, templates and processes

  • Presents updates to Senior leadership as well as colleagues on a regular basis

    Qualifications & Experience

    Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related area or business,

  • A number of years Pharmaceutical experience (preferably in both small and larger companies)

  • A number of years of drug development project management experience

    Desirable

  • MS/ MBA or PhD preferred

  • PMP or Prince 2 certification
