Analytics Data Translator, Life Sciences Job ID: 88881 Who You'll Work With

McKinsey's Life Sciences (LS) Practice serves clients across multiple dedicated functional service lines spanning Commercial, R&D, and Operations, as well as a host of client interest groups and functional joint ventures. Within the LS Practice, you'll be a member of the Data Center of Excellence (CoE).

The Data CoE is a highly visible, critical component of the practice. We are a growing group with an expanding global footprint. This is a top global priority and a high-profile position; the Data CoE regularly works with McKinsey life sciences senior leaders. We have the important remit of improving the insights we deliver to clients by designing the data strategy and delivering a large portion of analytics for the LS practice. What You'll Do

As a Data CoE Translator, you will wear many hats: strategy and change management, client consulting (both analytics strategy and data expertise), expertise/ knowledge development, business development and asset development.

This is a uniquely complete role and is very entrepreneurial in nature. You will help to increase client impact by increasing the quality of data-driven insights, and in the process gain exposure to both LS leadership and clients, and develop your own platform.

You will support the team in driving overall data strategy for LS, leading the development of the Data CoE (vision and strategy, organization and contributors, tools and processes, KPIs reach & relevance, etc.), and managing stakeholders and change across the firm. You will help deliver and maintain a compelling portrayal of McKinsey's data ecosystem and capabilities to clients and internal stakeholders. More broadly, you will evangelize the use of data and analytics, while driving awareness of the firm's policies related to data risk.

Based on your own growing expertise and a network of local experts, you will guide our Client Service Teams on data and analytics strategy for their client engagements and client development efforts. You will help them select and connect with relevant data vendors. Over time, you will be called on as an expert/Content Director to deliver analytic projects and gain direct exposure to clients.

For given geographies, you will help to build a knowledge base of the health data landscape (e.g. data vendors, and their strengths/limitations) so you can best advise our Client Service Teams with regard to their specific use cases. You will support contributions to firmwide data, asset, and use case catalogs as well as publish documents to Know/McKinsey.com, and write white papers.

You will drive research efforts in discovering new sources of data against white spaces you will identify (e.g. inpatient data, therapeutic area-specific data sets). You will develop relationships with data vendors and where relevant, explore and operationalize the development of partnerships (e.g., from one-off dataset purchases to strategic investments and acquisitions).

Working closely with Quantum Black, LS colleagues, and external data partners/vendors, you will manage the development of tools that supports the increased use of data our client work. You will also collaborate with other practices, analytics groups, and the central tech team to ensure efforts are synergistic rather than redundant. Qualifications
