AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Junior Rail/Transit Engineer for employment in the Philadelphia office to work in an established Rail Engineering Department, serving national and international freight and transit clients. Candidates should have 2-6 years of engineering experience in rail, highway, or site-civil projects. Candidates will gain experience through working closely with senior engineers to learn rail engineering. Opportunities include technical development, developing experience with AutoCAD and Microstation platforms, and producing designs for transit and freight rail from conceptual through final design.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, candidates must:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Applying knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects.
Assisting a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
Assisting in maintaining project documentation.
Producing high quality plans that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation engineering and two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
Two (2) years experience using Roads and/or Civil 3D software packages
Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
Familiarity in freight or transit rail clients
Previous work experience in rail is preferred
