About Department of Microbiology and Immunology College of Medicine Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Institute for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Disease continues advances in technology and collaborative interdisciplinary research between basic and clinical scientists. Research conducted within the department is of importance to the growing national and international health care needs. We are committed to understanding molecular mechanisms of infectious diseases within the human population and the development of strategies to prevent and/or treat these acute, chronic, and latent infectious diseases. The department is also heavily involved in graduate level teaching for MS, PhD, MD, and MD/PhD programs. Job Summary Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Institute for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Disease is searching for an adjunct faculty member to redevelop and teach MIIM-645S-900: Biomedical Career Explorations. This position is fully online and will require periodic meetings with Drexel faculty and support staff to facilitate the creation and roll-out of these new courses. Essential Functions Course Redevelopment & Course Prep Update instructional materials to align with current career development practices and trends. Prepare syllabus using latest template; distribute as required. Copy Blackboard Learn course site and update it to conform to the current template. Prepare course site including uploading accessible syllabus and course materials, setting dates, posting announcements, configuring grade center, recording welcome and introduction, sending meeting invites to guest speakers, and updating instructions and all items in topic or weekly folder (for example: textbook page numbers, links to publications or web sites, wording of learning objectives; self-assessment items; graded quiz items; corrections of punctuation, grammar, or spelling; all segments of presentation.) Conduct final review of course site and scheduling details by December 20. Spring Semester Course Implementation Facilitate the course which includes: Replying to students' inquiries in the Questions, Problems, Suggestions forum. Responding to students' needs or questions (via email or telephone) in a timely manner as outlined in the communication policy shown in syllabus. Checking in with individual students (via email, virtual meeting, or telephone) at least once per semester, Suggestion: Check in around week 8 or 9. Grading all course work within one week of submission and providing meaningful feedback on discussions, written assignments, journals, etc. Checking grades at the end of weeks 4, 8, and 12 to determine if there are any "at risk" students; contacting students who are at risk of failing the course and, if needed, contact their advisors. Reviewing the mid-semester feedback survey; thanking students for participating and communicate any changes planned. Posting final course grades in Banner by the due date and time. Required Qualifications MS or equivalent in any field. At least 5 years of experience with online education.
