As a Field Operations Technician for the City, you will be assisting with the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets, facilities, and grounds while interacting frequently with other Public Works personnel.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the rights-of-way, parks, and other assigned City grounds.

  • Maintain City tools and equipment in safe and effective operating conditions.

  • Maintain City vehicles, including cleaning inside and outside and performing maintenance checks.

  • Performs assigned tasks during emergency situations such as floods, severe weather, and traffic accidents.

  • May be assigned temporarily to other departments to provide related support.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Skill Requirements: Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Relatable Work Experience: One (1) year of street or general labor work experience. Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Valid, Class C Texas Driver's License.

    Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

    Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements (Work Environment): This position will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year, and around hazardous chemicals and materials.
