City of Pflugerville Communications and Customer Service Intern (TXWORKS) in Pflugerville, Texas

This internship position is participating in the TXWORKS (https://www.highered.texas.gov/plan-pay-complete-college/paying-for-college/txworks-internship-program/) program. The City of Pflugerville is seeking a Communications and Customer Service Intern for our Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) department for the summer session! The dates for this internship are May 13, 2024 - August 12, 2024. The person we seek will believe in and exhibit the City's P.F.I.R.S.T. core values: Positive, Forward-thinking, Integrity, Resilience, Service, and Teamwork.

As a Communications and Customer Service Intern for the City, you will be assisting in onsite and offsite adoptions. This includes creating social media content to promote animal adoption, educational opportunities, and community outreach.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Greet customers and assists customers in meeting animals available for adoption.

  • Provide adoption counseling to potential adopters.

  • Create social media posts promoting animals for adoption, adoption events, and educational/awareness information.

  • Create videos for social media posts promoting animals for adoption, adoption events, educational information, and community outreach events.

  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors.

  • Conduct educational tours to groups.

  • Observe dog play groups being conducted by Animal Care Techs and provides animal enrichment to learn individual animal's personalities to aid with adoption placement.

  • Communicates with fosters as needed.

  • Collaborates with PAWS Coordinator to set up and manage on-site and off-site adoption events, and community educational and outreach events.

    Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program.

  • Customer service experience, including creating videography.

  • Valid Texas driver's license

  • Communications major preferred.
