American Transmission Company Staff Counsel in Pewaukee, Wisconsin
Summary of Responsibilities:

As an attorney, you will advise ATC on corporate and commercial matters, including acquisition of goods and services for ATC, contract interpretation and negotiations, and general commercial legal questions. From time to time, you will also provide support on matters related to data privacy and protection.
Essential Responsibilities:
As an ATC attorney, you will support the business functions of ATC and:
Provide legal advice, representation, and assistance to the company in connection with commercial transactions involving the acquisition of goods and services
Assist our supply chain department and other business functions, in connection with contracts, agreements, licenses, and other binding legal transactions
Review, draft, and revise standard forms and contracts
Provide subject matter expertise and advice regarding risks assumed by ATC via business transactions and associated contracts, agreements, and licenses
Provide support in matters related to data privacy and protection
Maintain currency with industry legal developments related to commercial transactions, contracts, agreements, etc. and other assigned legal topics
Provide proactive, preventative legal advice to all levels of ATC with respect to new case law and proposed/new laws, rules, or regulations
Provide general legal guidance and advice related to business decisions, projects, initiatives, and activities as assigned
Represent the legal department in company-wide meetings and initiatives
Education
- Law degree (JD) from an accredited law school with admission to (or eligibility for prompt admission to) the Wisconsin Bar
Experience
4+ years’ experience handling a variety of corporate and commercial transactional matters for businesses including drafting and negotiating contracts
Familiarity with data privacy laws and related issues a plus
Ability to build long-term, effective working relationships with all levels of employees
Ability to communicate complex information verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities at the same time
Ability to apply legal expertise and judgment to solve strategic, tactical, and operational problems
Ability to lead negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other binding legal transactions
Ability to create awareness and understanding of technical legal topics across diverse audiences including executives, employees, and external stakeholders
Ability to develop expertise with emerging legal and regulatory issues and standards
Ability to demonstrate patience and remain calm in unexpected and/or antagonistic situations
This is a hybrid role, blending regular in-office presence with remote work flexibility.
