Job Title: CNC Programmer and Operator

Job Description

Candidates will learn to operate CNC equipment for metal fabrication, including hardware for the framing of large window unit systems. The role involves both programming and operating CNC machines, requiring experience from a machine shop or related metal fabrication facility. The candidate will be responsible for operating CNC equipment, including saws, brake press, and other specialized equipment for metal bending. The role requires program aptitude, process management on machines, and the ability to identify and interpret digital 3D drawings for various runs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC equipment for metal fabrication, including saws, brake press, and specialized equipment.

  • Program and reprogram CNC machines as necessary.

  • Interpret and work with CAD/CAM programs and large commercial drawings for fabrication of sheet metal.

  • Utilize hoists to move larger pieces of sheet metal or glass material and perform team lifts for heavy or awkward objects.

  • Perform practice runs with operators to ensure accuracy of product output.

  • Work closely with the engineering and production teams to meet project specifications and deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC programming and operation from a machine shop or metal fabrication facility.

  • Proficiency in tools fitting, drills, hand tools, and machine operation.

  • Knowledge of computer numerical control (CNC) software and setup.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and large commercial drawings.

  • Experience with Solidworks, CAM, Fanuc, and G code programming.

  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to proficiently read a tape measure.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, punch press, brake press, laser operator, and press brake.

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, lathe machining, and manual machining.

  • A positive attitude, great listening skills, and a 'can-do' approach to work.

  • Flexibility to perform various tasks as needed, including material handling and cleaning.

Work Environment

The facility is a non-climate controlled, busy manufacturing environment filled with loud machines and many assemblers. Products are stored both inside and outside, and the team works closely with the plant manager, engineering team, and production teams. The environment involves working with large pieces of glass, sheet metal, and steel frames.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, va.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00
