Job Title: Maintenance Section Manager
Location: Peterlee, County Durham
Salary: £48,500 - £60,615 Dependant on Experience (paid overtime available) (Salary includes shift allowance)
Hours: Full Time, Permanent, 36.5 hours per week
Travel: Up to 10%
Relocation: Not supported with this role
Shift Pattern: 4 Crew, 3 Shifts per week (days/nights rotation, Mon - Sat)

Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat® Articulated Trucks. Machines from the site are shipped to customers around the world and are used in many industries including mining, construction, and aggregates. Job Purpose:
Caterpillar in Peterlee, UK is currently hiring 2 Maintenance Section Managers. As a Maintenance Section Manager, you will supervise and provide leadership to a team of Multi Skilled Maintenance Team Leaders and Technicians while adhering to Caterpillar’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Sustainability. The Section Manager is responsible for ensuring that a high level of uptime is achieved on a wide range of equipment throughout the facility in support of Operations achieving build plan.
What skills/experience you will have:
Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance knowledge
Proven experience in Leading, Coaching and Developing Maintenance Teams
Maintenance resource coordination for planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repair
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience working in a busy manufacturing environment
Ability to drive improvements in team performance and safety culture
A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
Top candidates will also have:
Engineering/Manufacturing Degree or equivalent experience in Maintenance
NEBOSH/IOSH Qualification or evidence of safety improvement activities
Excellent PC, Presentation and Communication Skills
Knowledge of PUWER & LOLER regulations
PLC Knowledge
Key Tasks and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Management of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown maintenance on:
Automated Metal Cutting Equipment including Laser and Plasma
Automated Paint Plant
Robotic Welding Systems
Welding equipment
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
Electronic Torque equipment
Automated Moving Lines/AGVs
Hydraulic Presses
Overhead and Semi Goliath Cranes
Provide technical direction and logical breakdown approach to Maintenance Team
Utilising the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP PM, Agility etc) to review previous breakdown data and record actions taken on breakdown recoveries
Driving breakdown root cause identification and countermeasure implementation
Prioritise Maintenance resource to meet operational requirements
Identify opportunities to reduce Mean Time To Repair and increase Mean Time Between Failures

• Predicts and explains long-term trends and implications for alternatives.
• Monitors industry for best practices and new techniques in problem-solving.
Manufacturing Preventive Maintenance:
• Coordinates resources for maintenance, repair, and overhaul of plant equipment.
• Designs procedures for preventive measures to help improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Diagnoses problems and malfunctions in a wide variety of manufacturing equipment.
• Oversees that safety and health standards adhere to the preventive maintenance tasks.
• Trains the subordinates as well as equipment operators on how to prolong the life span of manufacturing equipment.
• Updates preventive maintenance systems for all schedules of manufacturing equipment.
Plant Operation and Maintenance:
• Participates in the evaluation and selection of plant operations and maintenance systems.
• Participates in planning for automating operations and retooling of an assembly line.
• Consults on operations routing and back-up capabilities.
• Analyzes plant floor operations; evaluates trends and implements corrective actions as necessary.
• Works with complex issues in all major production runs and their criticalities for the manufacturing organization.
• Advises others on key aspects of effective and efficient operation and workload optimization.
