Chart Industries Lead Electrical, Control System and Instrumentation engineer in Peterborough, United Kingdom

Exciting Opportunity for a Lead Electrical, Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer.

We are searching for an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer to join our talented team based in Peterborough .

As a Lead EC&I Engineer , you will provide effective, visible and inspirational technical leadership of a small team of EC&I engineers working on a single steam turbine new build contract and ensure engineering design processes are followed with a high degree of rigour. You will understand the needs of a high value, high profile projects in a complex environment and chart a course through which priorities take presidence, and which of your team are best suited to accomplish specific goals. You will interpret complex standard and legislation documentation and define a design solution and develop and issue electrical, control and instrumentation designs for procurement, installations and commissioning of project, meeting our Quality Standards, Customer specifications, performance and cost targets and International Regulatory Requirements. You will specify and approve control system Functional Design Specifications, Software Design Specifications, Logic Diagrams and C&E Matrix. Define and write PLC Programs using Rockwell, Siemens or Schneider and configure Visualisation Programs Rockwell, Siemens or Schneider. Also, Simulate the PLC and Visualisation Programs using the appropriate simulation tools and specify approve test and inspection procedures of all electrical, control and instrumentation equipment. You will also be a mentor and aid in the development of your team.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Deliver design solution that meet or exceed the expected standard to meet time, cost and quality constraints.

  • Provide design activity status reports and estimated design timings for project schedules as requested.

  • To be a problem solver, and not afraid to use new ideas / initiatives and challenge our processes.

  • Carry out any other reasonable request for a company or department level initiative or task as may be required from time to time.

To be successful you must have …

  • Bachelor's Degree, in a relevant Engineering topic, and/or with equivalent experience and training. You will be a chartered Engineer or actively seeking to become one.

  • 10 years plus experience in an EC&I design role.

  • Demonstrable experience in leading small design teams to meet challenging targets in time, to budget and right first time.

  • Extensive experience of rotating machinery electrics, instrumentation and control systems

  • Extensive experience utilising software tools to aid control system design

  • Extensive experience of machine condition monitoring including vibration and speed. Hazardous Area classification and the implications thereof. Generator systems and protection

  • You will be an excellent communicator with very good listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Working with Colleagues in systems Engineering and Project Engineering, you will have the ability to work within a gateway process and support and deliver design reviews, both internally and at a customer level.

  • An eye for detail and working diligently to ensure activities are fully completed to conclusion.

  • A strong team player

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential) ..

  • Masters degree in relevant subject for the role.

  • Previous experience supplying similar rotating equipment products or services to the oil and gas, petrochemical or power generation industries.

  • Relevant commercial experience
