Job Title: Accountant - Internal Controls Coordinator

Salary: £38,500-£42,500

Location: Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

  • Key member of the IPSD Internal Controls team responsible for ensuring that Internal Controls assessment programs are effectively run in order to keep the business safe from Financial Reporting Risk.

  • This role interacts primarily with the Accounting Managers at our smaller facilities to champion internal controls and to provide education and training on internal controls processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensuring that the Small Entities Controls Program and the Anti-Fraud Controls Program are effectively run.

  • Conducting controls testing and leading the process of remedial action planning when control deficiencies are identified

  • Monitoring Segregation of Duties conflicts and leading the resolution of conflicts identified

  • Running of UK Authority Limits process and responding to queries relating to this

  • Reporting on the status of internal controls to senior management

What You Have:

  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.

Effective Communications:

  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.

Managing Multiple Priorities:

  • Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Clarifies and handles multiple concurrent and diverse activities.

Problem Solving:

  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.

Accounting:

  • Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.

  • Works with financial transactions and related documentation within the organization.

Education requirements:

  • Qualified or part qualified for an accounting qualification e.g. CIMA / ACCA
