DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Directs and provides analytical support for research, development, and manufacturing activities. Provides high level troubleshooting and analytical method development and method validation per pharmaceutical guidelines. Ensures that laboratory work is in compliance with regulations. Prepares complex technical experimental deigns and reports. Experienced in HPLC, wet chemistry analysis, and laboratory data systems. Safety minded in operation
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently performs and documents laboratory work
May serve as a project leader
Ensures scientific integrity and quality of laboratory work they perform or supervise
Proactively reviews operations and contributes to development of standard operating procedures and training programs
Preparation of protocols and technical reports
Represents Department on project teams
Assists in proposal preparation
May supervise and train
Performs / directs physical, wet chemical and instrumental analysis
Provides a high level of data interpretation
Identifies problems and provides troubleshooting for analytical methods and equipment
Plans experimental designs and develops protocols
Determines the need and prepares standard operating procedures
Develops analytical methods
Prepares complex reports for laboratory test results and validation work
Effectively communicates with supervisors on project status and problems encountered
Ensures accurate calculations and documents work in compliance with GLP/cGMP and site procedures
Performs peer review of data for other staff members
May provide training, supervision and scheduling assistance for Technicians and other Chemists in skills they have mastered
Actively participates in or leads laboratory safety programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
Expert analytical laboratory skills including all relevant pharmaceutical QC techniques
Ability to exercise independent intellectual judgement based on their specialized skills in the field of science
Able to train others
Advanced troubleshooting and method development skills
Technical project leadership abilities
Organized and detail oriented for accuracy and quality of work in accordance with established procedures
Good written and verbal communications skills
Must be able to work in a complex, fast paced environment with an ability to prioritize.
Safety minded in performance of duties
Effectively communicates with Supervisor and team members
Organized and able to perform duties in a timely manner

Must have sufficient manual dexterity to perform laboratory testing in a manner to provide precise and accurate results and work in a safe manner

May be required to move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
May be required to stand for long periods of time to perform laboratory work
Individual is required to wear and use appropriate protective equipment in laboratory areas
Must be able to work with standard laboratory chemicals under normal safety precautions
Must be able to work with computers and general laboratory instrumentation
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with 6-7 years of experience or related scientific field with extensive in a pharmaceutical, quality control analytical laboratory environment, or equivalent experience
Preferred: Master’s with 2 years of experience or related scientific field with exposure to analytical laboratory environment supporting pharmaceutical development or equivalent experience
As required by law, Bausch Health provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in the US. Actual compensation is influenced by many factors including skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For this role, the range of starting pay for this role is $70k - $90k.
