Education / Training:

• High school diploma or GED;

• 1-3 years of management in a production environment; some accounting experience;

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task;

• Proficiency with Excel and other MS Office tools.

Materials Supervisor

Key Job Elements:

• Maintains/accountability for materials that includes tracking/segregation of leasing material for brokerage; works alongside production team to determine what orders need filling and applies necessary manpower as needed;

• Sells materials to external vendors, from quote to shipping and final disposition in LN;

• Completes cycle counts throughout the year to keep inventory accuracy levels high;

• Processes and tracks all sales transactions, from initial sales to final usage, in LN;

• Executes all Accounts Payable transactions, including PO’s, XM payments, and purchase orders;

• Establishes and identifies multiple item numbers removed from locomotives and sets them up physically

and within the system;

• Works with higher levels of management to determine needs of product to customers and manages processes to complete those needs;

• Performs safety observations, Safety toolbox talks, and E911 control;

• Manages layout and multiple maps to track progress of materials and completion of warehousing setups;

• Creates shipping exceptions through external class 1 railroads signage;

• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Supervisor and/or Manager training; ability to work together in a team environment; ability to manage a diverse workforce; understanding of how to adjust build schedules and flex personnel as needed throughout the business day; understanding of HR policies and how to apply them in certain situations;

• Ability to work with higher levels of management to determine needs of product to customers and manages processes to complete those needs;

• Knowledge of establishing and maintaining a safe work environment; strong focus and prioritization on team safety;

• Training in Lean Manufacturing and Auditing preferred;

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral;

• Basic computer knowledge and skills to understand systematic work;

• Understanding of company policies and documentation use and storage;

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

• Strength – Position typically involves oversight in an industrial environment. Frequent standing, sitting and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting (up to 30 pounds);

• Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with leading and demonstrating in an industrial environment. Frequent reaching, handling, grasping, carrying, pulling. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching;

• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

• Work Environment – Position is Safety Sensitive and will require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Position may involve work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Position is located in an industrial environment, including occasional exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes and/or extreme temperatures, heavy machinery, hazardous materials, and other hazardous working conditions;

• Emotional Demands – High level of responsibility in a hazardous environment. Must be able to lead a diverse team in a production environment. Requires interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;

• Safety – Position is Safety Sensitive and will require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
