Summary

GAF is searching for a Process Engineer who will be responsible for process optimization, cost reduction, planning/implementation and assisting with meeting operational and financial business objectives. The ideal candidate will help drive improvement utilizing standard improvement tools such as QualPro, MVT/DOE, and Kepner Tregoe.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with Operations and other resources to optimize plant performance.

• Lead the execution of Quality and Process Improvement projects using standard PI tools such as QualPro, MVT/DOE, and Kepner Tregoe PSDM. Execute approved capital improvements resulting from these projects, by coordinating with managers on timelines, budget and resources needed.

• Provide technical support to operating departments in statistical applications, process capability assessment and problem solving.

• Participate in and support product improvement and new product development efforts.

• Conduct all plant product, process and materials trials

• Create and maintain culture to identify and implement continuous improvement ideas

• Lead the efforts to define and develop testing protocols for finished product performance.

• Provide root cause analysis for all electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical issues that cause downtime of two hours or more to occur. Solutions to identified root causes are to be included and implemented where possible within company constraints and rules.

• Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor/Management.

• Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of production and office machinery

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Under This Roof, We Require

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical preferred)

• 3+ years of experience in a continuous manufacturing process environment

• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals to include root cause analysis, statistical process control, lean/agile approaches and structured problem solving (Kepner Tregoe, Potential Problem Analysis, Design of Experiments, etc)

• Ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for personnel

• Proficiency in Google Suite and design software

• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings, have demonstrated focus on continuous improvement, and intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management is preferred

• Ability to communicate, both written and orally, in English is required
