About the role

Our Perth based Transport Delivery team is currently working on a broad range of transport infrastructure projects for Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) and Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA), including major upgrades, replacements, and refurbishments. To support delivery of the work packages, as well the growth of our Bridge team in Perth, we are currently seeking a Principal Bridge Engineer/ Team Leader to join our team. Working in collaboration with our national bridge team, you will be involved in building and creating a team that achieves the outcomes and objectives identified in the Transport Delivery business strategy.

As Team Leader, you will provide leadership to ensure alignment to company strategy, initiatives, vision, and culture. You will be the advocate of the business both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organisations within the region. The Team Leader position is a function, in addition to the substantive technical/ project contribution role as a Principal Bridge Engineer.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Responsible for design of complex projects, requiring specialized knowledge, including technical preparation and coordination of the design, specifications, technical documentation etc. to ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Support marketing and business development team in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.

  • Contribute to the development of new standards and specifications of Bridge and Civil Structures design.

  • Plan, conduct and coordinate engineering assignments, involving several smaller and higher revenue projects, of varying complexity.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.

  • Assist and/or lead the development of proposals and contract negotiation.

  • Provide training and technical guidance to junior team members, including the professional and personal development of staff.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering with a minimum 10 years’ experience in the delivery of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects

  • Charted Professional Engineer (CPEng)

  • Experience with structural analysis software such as SPACEGASS, STRAND7, MIDAS

  • Familiarity with WA Structural Engineering and Bridge Branch manuals, Austroads and Australian Standards, especially AS5100.

  • Previous experience working on major projects (MRWA / PTA or similar)
