Taylor County Board Of County Commissioners Animal Control Officer in Perry, Florida

This is a responsible position involving the enforcement of State and local adopted animal control ordinances. This position includes the investigation of complaints received concerning animal control, the capture and impounding of unlicensed strays and uncontrolled animals, and the destroying of unclaimed animals as necessary. This position if also responsible for preparing and maintaining log and file records of activities. Work is done under the supervision of the Animal Control Coordinator and is reviewed for adherence to established procedures and by observation of results obtained. Work is normally performed during regular business hours. However, the employee is on 365/24-hour call.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Respond to citizen's requests for assistance with dangerous or stray animals.
  • Impound animals at the Animal Shelter
  • Feed, water, and supply necessary care to animals.
  • Carry out the coordination of euthanization of animals.
  • Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the Shelter.
  • Maintain log and files on activities, including detailed inventory for government oversight agencies.
  • Assist citizens in adoption process and paperwork, animal return to owners and owner surrenders.
  • Responsible for answering phones, filing, data entry and other clerical duties.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
