Air National Guard Units AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32) in Peoria, Illinois

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1410000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32), WL-8852-10, you will lead three or more journeyman Aircraft Mechanics, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: On a regular and recurring basis, lead three or more aircraft mechanics, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel performing work in the inspection docks. Advise the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provide functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommend adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements. Monitor the work of assigned personnel, set the pace, pass along assignments, and assure that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Work along with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journeyman work as required. Ensure that safety, housekeeping, security and other environmental rules are followed. Insure that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Check work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serve as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Recruitment and relocation incentives may be available for this position. PCS expenses may be authorized. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Minimum rank of TSgt. Maximum rank of MSgt. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized experience for the journeyman level which includes experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. SPECIALIZED LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized leadership experience for the WL-10 Level which includes, in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment; the ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
