Navy Exchange Services (NEX) MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FOOD SERVICES) - RPT in PENSACOLA, Florida

Title: MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FOOD SERVICES) - RPT Location: United States-Florida-Pensacola Job Number: 2400037S Job Summary: Performs various duties involving the receipt storing and issuing of merchandise items. Operates a gasoline diesel or electric powered vehicle to pick-up and or deliver food and other supplies primarily on a military installation. Duties and Responsibilities: - Operates a motor vehicle such as carry-all, pick up truck, or similar type, (i.e. vehicles of up to and including 7,000 pounds and capable of carrying loads weighing up to 1 ton) to transport food, (raw, prepared, frozen) soda, beer, necessary supplies, etc., on a military installation. Assures safe transportation of food items and other equipment to their destinations. May assist with loading or unloading vehicles; assures vehicle is not overloaded. Completes trip tickets and fills out driver's accident report in case of accident. - Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle (or vehicle being utilized for that days work.) - Signs for and obtains receipt for merchandise, as required; opens, inspects, and counts to insure that loads conform to receipts and notes overages, shortages, or damaged merchandise and reports to supervisor. Prepares storage location for new merchandise and places in bin and arranges on shelves. - Receives merchandise transfer from locations, selects merchandise for delivery to food sales locations. - Observes all sanitary, safety, fire and traffic regulations. - Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who makes assignments. Accomplishes driving and other assignments in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Work is reviewed from the standpoint of timely accomplishment of work; driving ability is regularly observed and evaluated. Vehicle is intermittently spot-checked for abuse and accomplishment of first echelon maintenance trip tickets are reviewed for completeness and adherence to regulations. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and moderate effort may be required in frequent handling or lifting objects up to 20 pounds or occasionally over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading or unloading vehicles. Is exposed to possibility of serious accidents while driving in all types of traffic and weather; is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or unloading loading vehicles. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Eighteen months of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of operating a motor vehicle to transport items to and from various locations. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. Possession of a valid state driver s license or a valid commercial driver s license CDL. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and moderate effort may be required in frequent handling or lifting objects weighing 40lbs or occasionally heavier with assistance.
