United States Steel Logistics Services Representative I in Pennsylvania

U. S. Steel is seeking a Logistics Services Representative. This position is suitable for a self-starting, problem solving candidate that can manage daily responsibilities while also leading or participating in projects related to Rail, Truck, and Barge Transportation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pricing: Receives requests from various internal and external contacts for Truck/Rail/Barge rates and provides analysis/details on established lanes. Provides commercial, planning and financial groups transportation pricing for current and future volumes. Negotiates with suppliers across all modes and aligns pricing based on market conditions. Works directly with the operations group and suppliers to ensure rates are in place for new lanes and realigns pricing due to volume, capacity, and mode shifts. Manages transportation pricing forecasts, contracts, profiles, routes, fuel, car information, amendment extracts, rate records, routing guides, and templates for steel products. Provides monthly reporting for the logistics department. Drives cost savings initiatives through allocation opportunities, market fluctuation and complex contractual agreements.

  • Administration: Freight audit recovery and resolves billing issues with the transportation companies through daily activities of assigned accounts. Works with operations, mill accounting, accounts payable, customer service, sales, procurement, processed products, and systems in executing various freight related responsibilities. Maintains accuracy of purchase orders, allocations, and Oracle Transportation Management security access. Investigates, files, and processes all freight claims related to damaged material. Verifies insurance requirements, safety requirements, and leads carrier onboarding process. Ensuring Logistics is prepared for ISO auditing.

  • Project Management: Maintain control phase in already rolled out projects, streamline transactional/manual processes, develop, and lead or participate in cross functional projects. Utilize six sigma methodologies and documentation to execute project work and cost savings.

  • International: Contact within Logistics for shipments that cross international borders. Execute timely and accurate reporting required for import/export compliance and audits (including ISO document review and audit preparation). Monitor Customs Invoices (CI) System to ensure border crossing documents are being generated/distributed. Prepare RFQ’s for competitive bid on Freight requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain or equivalent

  • Less than five years of experience in a related field

  • Project management experience or training preferred

  • Detailed

  • Experience working with transportation companies or suppliers

  • Excellent analytical and organization skills

  • Facilitate cross functional initiatives

  • Training and experience with six sigma methodologies

  • Oracle Transportation Management experience is preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner, Minitab)
