DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will take on the responsibility of developing bid proposals for construction initiatives, which entails analyzing plans and associated data, generating cost estimates, and verifying precision through thorough plan evaluations. Your duties will also include preparing the necessary documentation for submission to the Central Office, engaging in discussions regarding proposals with the Central Office, and participating in pre-bid meetings as required. Moreover, you will be tasked with maintaining a library of special provisions, conducting initial cost assessments, and keeping abreast of construction methodologies through site visits. Additionally, you will be involved in preparing designs and assessing various highway and bridge projects, which includes conducting field assessments for maintenance resurfacing efforts, utilizing CADD software for project design, formulating roadway and traffic control strategies, and calculating the quantities of work required for successful project execution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after successfully completing the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Highway Draftsman- Designer; or

  • Three years of professional experience in highway design work including six months of CADD operation, and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or

  • One year of professional experience in highway design work including six months involved CADD operation, and a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, or a closely related field; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
