POSITION SUMMARY

• Responsible for general maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems by performing the following duties.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform maintenance tasks across a variety of trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting;

• HVAC maintenance and general repairs;

• Perform basic maintenance on air compressors and dryers;

• Maintain water and steam systems throughout the plant, including heat exchangers, pumps, valves and motors;

• Perform Preventative Maintenance following the PM schedule, track parts and labor on the PM work order and make PM improvement recommendations;

• Perform and assist with Grounds Maintenance;

• Operate tools and equipment associated with Buildings and Grounds Maintenance;

• Direct and assist outside trades with access and materials associated with Facilities work;

• Work with Facilities Supervisor on projects throughout plant;

• Follow verbal, written directions and read blueprints;

• Basic computer knowledge and communication skills;

• May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls to perform emergency repairs during off-duty hours;

• Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience as a facilities maintenance mechanic;

• HVAC Skills;

• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safety practices, understanding the required safety precaution & occupational hazards of electrical power testing & high voltage equipment;

• Mathematical ability to calculate amounts of materials needed and to measure materials to be laid out, cut shaped, threaded, joined, etc.;

• Knowledge of electrical principles and theories;

• Ability to perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC maintenance and general repairs;

• Capable of following the proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals;

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (bump cap, hair net, ear plugs, beard net (if applicable);

• Ability to apply basic computer and communication skills, math functions, and reasoning;

• Ability to safely use multiple services, tools & equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Occasional work in tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors;

• Exposure to extreme loud noises;

• Standing and moving by foot;

• Frequent exposure to extreme hot/cold (non-weather)environment;

• Work in high places and near moving mechanical parts;

• Frequent lifting/carrying <50 pounds, reaching and use of fingers;

• Frequent reaching/pulling/bending/climbing stairs/stooping/kneeling/bending, especially in areas requiring repair or installation;

• Occasionally lifting >50 pounds;

• Potential exposure to caustic chemicals.
