Salary: $58,500 to $60,000/yr and a Free Family YMCA Membership

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for overall supervision and leadership of the before and after school operations for the Before and After School Program Division. The Director is responsible for revenue growth, fiscal management, financial development, facility management, hiring, training and supervision of staff. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall responsibility for before and after school program operations within assigned district(s).

  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and continued development of all staff in the assigned BASP district(s).

  • Act as a liaison between parents and program staff regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to assure a safe, fun and quality environment is provided in all areas.

  • General oversight of youth development programs and services in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association and OCFS.

  • Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.

  • Responsible for facilitating department revenue growth, and overall enhancement and increase of program services.

  • Responsible for the overall facility appearance, and related equipment.

  • Accountable for department budget development and management. Ensure a strong fiscal position and appropriate resource allocation.

  • Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems at both sites.

  • Implement program initiatives that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.

  • Work closely with local school systems, administrators, principals, and teachers to assure smooth operations of program services, utilization of resources and proper communications.

  • Serve as a member of the division staff team, assisting with special events, programming, and committees as assigned.

  • Maintain and further develop contacts with community agencies, corporations, and potential donors.

  • Work with volunteers as required.

  • Maintain all required certifications and trainings.

  • Attend all required meetings and training.

  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field and at least 3 years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Must have a genuine interest in working with and enriching lives of children.

  • Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.

  • High level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of member service and programming.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.

  • Experience in fundraising and individual gift solicitation and cultivation

  • Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended duration of shift

  • Must be able to bend and stoop frequently

  • Must be able to lift up to forty pounds

  • Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)

  • Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.

  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

  • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).

  • Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.

Salary Description

$58,500 to $60,000 per year
