Title: SEASONAL RIMPAC MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (BUS) Location: United States-Hawaii-Pearl Harbor Job Number: 240000PZ Job Summary: Operates a passenger bus with a gross vehicle weight of 26 000 lbs. to 32 000 lbs. in the transportation of military and civilian personnel. Duties and Responsibilities: Drives passenger bus on scheduled and special long and short trips in all types of traffic on military installations and public roads to transport military and civilian personnel from one place to another. Maneuvers the bus around sharp corners and through narrow streets and roadways. Observes established time schedules and follows prescribed routes observing speed limits in various areas and on highways. Controls the loading and unloading of passengers assures the maximum capacity regulation is observed and only authorized persons transported completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records fills out driver s accident report in case of accident reports any misbehavior of passengers on bus. May occasionally drive other type and size vehicles for which qualified and licensed when required by the workload. Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle or vehicle being utilized for that days work . Responsible for own change fund. Prepares daily sales person s cash report. - Secures vehicle in designated areas at end of day. Observes safety and traffic regulations and requirements. Exercises tact good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. Driver s ability is regularly observed and evaluated. Vehicle is intermittently spot checked for abuse and accomplishment of preventive maintenance trip tickets are checked for compliance with regulations and completeness. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Moderate physical effort is required to turn the large and heavy vehicles and to operate the additional controls. Due to the weight and size of vehicle moderate physical effort is required in handling objects weighing up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather when making emergency repairs and checking and inspecting vehicle. Is subject to cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when making emergency repairs. Is exposed to possible serious accidents while driving in all types of traffic and weather. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must possess a valid state commercial driver s license CDL with a class B endorsement for heavy straight vehicles or large buses. A class A endorsement for tractor trailors and combination vehicles is also acceptable. 2. Must possess a P endorsement on their CDL which permits them to operate a passenger carrying vehicle. 3. Must meet Department of Transportation DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a preemployment drug screening. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity command Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of operating a large van passenger vehicle. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Three years of experience operating a large bus or van passenger vehicle with a gross vehicle weight between 26 000 lbs. to 32 000 lbs. Possession of a valid state commercial driver s license CDL with a class B endorsement for heavy straight vehicles or large buses or a class A endorsement for tractor trailers and combination vehicles.
