Senior Wiring Project Manager Job Responsibilities: Position will provide electrical power and wiring systems support to the NAWCAD Propulsion and Power Engineering Department. Specific duties include aircraft electrical and electronic wiring and equipment installation support, monitoring assessments, and assisting the general wiring and equipment installation quality processes. Independently plans, organizes, conducts, and reports the results of Wiring Assessment and Inspection Techniques Training and complex aircraft electrical/electronic wiring and equipment installation assessments. Participates in the initial design development of major modifications, ECPs, and new production programs. Evaluates and provides inputs to specifications, designs, processes, tooling, parts and materials, quality control, and production techniques of proposed installations. Reviews performance specifications and wire data packages for adequacy of application. Monitors, identifies, and investigates adverse trends affecting developmental, production, and Fleet aircraft wiring and equipment installation quality, reliability, and basic mission performance. Participates in professional committees active in the development of aerospace electrical and wiring systems. Performs in-process monitoring and surveillance assessments of aircraft wiring and equipment installations during the manufacturing, modification, and rework of developmental and production aircraft. Conducts technical briefings and presentations on the development and advancements in wiring, wiring devices, interconnects, bonding, grounding, and equipment installation techniques. Some travel will be required. Duties may include other tasks on an as-needed basis. Position is located at NAS Patuxent River, MD, and includes a hybrid (in-office and telework) work environment. Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma/GED AND completion of a military or technical trade school in the specialty area OR technical training equivalent to 30 semester hours in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience within DoD aviation in one of the following four (4) subject areas: Systems Requirements, Operational Requirements, Test and Evaluation, or Training.
  • Detailed knowledge of aviation wiring materials including electrical and fiber optic wire conductor materials, insulation materials, and installation best practices, along with experience in wiring termination and connector construction techniques.
  • Must be a US citizen, have a valid state driver's license, and be able to obtain/retain an active DoD Secret-level security clearance.
