Available Title(s): 1482-YN_ADMINPRO - Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2 Business Title: Site Manager | Ochoa Middle School | Pasco, WA Employee Type: Admin. Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: Summary of Duties: This position is responsible for the planning, administration, and direct support of the WSU Tri-Cities- Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) project at a designated middle school. Provides services to a cohort of 150-799 students. Manages an operating budget of at least $95,000.00 annually. Manages at least one (1) full-time staff and temporary/hourly staff. The Site Manager represents the university as primary liaison to the partner schools and their communities implementing GEAR UP goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, university, and grant regulations. Duties include but are not limited to: provide direct services to students; planning, preparation and leadership participation of group activities and workshops; coordinate and communicate with school administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students, and colleges, community members, organizations, and businesses; provide local leadership in program development and evaluation. This position will provide support to key program components, including tutor training and supervision, career exploration, and post-secondary preparation. This position is housed out of WSU Tri-Cities with a work location in Ochoa Middle School-Pasco, WA. Required Qualifications: • Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • The relevant full-time, professional experience should be in providing tutorial services, instruction or direct outreach services to middle school or high school students. • Demonstrated experience in promoting the success and achievement of students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds. • Experience leading or directing the work of others. • Proficiency in the use of computers and MS Office software programs Excel, Outlook and Word. • Willingness and ability to travel overnight and work a flexible schedule, including frequent nights and weekends. • Ability to travel overnight and in some occasions with supervisory responsibility of students. • Must have or be able to obtain at the time of hire, a valid unrestricted driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: • Three (3) or more years of supervising subordinate staff. • Experience managing a government grant program in a middle or high school setting.-Experience developing and managing a budget. • Experience coordinating events and field trips for students. • Experience working with college readiness programs. • Professional first-hand experience motivating students of low-income or disadvantaged youth.-Demonstrated strong communication, team building, problem-solving and conflict management skills. • Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources in the district's community.
