Naval Sea Systems Command LEAD QUALITY ASSURANCE SPEC (SHIPBUILDING) in Pascagoula, Mississippi

Summary You will serve as a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the PVI Division, Quality Assurance Department of SUPSHIP GULF COAST. Responsibilities You will be responsible for SUPSHIP QA efforts to monitor contractor compliance to the Navy and commercial hull/structure fit-up, accuracy control, welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and allied processes specifications and standards. You will perform procedure review, conduct independent surveys and Hull/NDT focused audits, provide in-process and product verification inspections, and witness contractor weld qualifications, testing and evaluations. You will review and monitor contractor's systems for qualifying personnel, procedures, equipment, and vendors. You will function as a Quality Assurance Representative for SUPSHIP at remote Contractor's facilities. You will assist in other branch divisions of the Quality Assurance Department as the work load dictates, thus utilizing knowledge of other trades associated with shipbuilding, as well as knowledge in assigned branch division. You will plan, develop, and implement quality assurance programs supporting the design, development, and acquisition of ships. You will review contractor's systems and determine the contractor's overall compliance to the requirements of construction and repair contracts. You will be responsible for providing data which is a measure of the quality of the end product and the effectiveness of the contractor's quality efforts. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance inspections, assessments, reviews, audits, or surveillance to ensure compliance with established quality controls for the maintenance, modernization, construction, or repair of surface ships or submarines.
