Dates of Need: 3/1/2025-10/31/2025. This application encompasses general farm and harvest labor on a row crop farm. This job requires a minimum of 3 months of general farm labor experience. The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds. Motor vehicle operation/pickup operation (must have a valid driver\'s license, learn to change oil, identify potential problems and\ notify management). All other duties assigned. Irrigation duties will include:\ - Digging ditch (must be able to use a shovel continuously for an extended period of time).\ - Digging corrugates (must be able to use a shovel continuously for an extended period of time).\ - Sprinkler Equipment (must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. over uneven terrain. for multiple hours per day, need to be able to connect and disconnect pipe, repair sprinkler system, flushing pipe, and remove system).
The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more or different hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than the specified hours of work; however, the worker will not be required to work for more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or on the workers Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required. Workday start times vary depending on the weather. depending on the time of year, hours of daylight, and production requirements. There may be periods when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of the cropping or growing season. Workers must be able to work varying shifts as required by the season and work performed. Workers are notified of any change in the start times. Work may be performed during rain, light snow, cold, freezing temperatures and/or in high humidity and in temperatures over a 100 degrees F. Worker may be required to work in fields when\ crops are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions.\ Workers job duties may require split shifts (e.g. 5:00 am to 10:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). Work hours may vary were there are periods when extra hours are offered and periods of reduced hours are available due to weather, crop conditions, and time of year.
Duties May Include:\ 1.Operate or maintain equipment used in agricultural production and field preparation such as tractors, irrigation equipment, 4-wheelers, non-CDL, farm-exempt trucks, and other commonly used equipment in agriculture.\ 2.Operate tractors to mow, weed spray and trailers in the fields.\ 3.Load and mix chemicals in addition to operating tractors sprayers.\ 4.Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Weed Spraying (Identify weeds and be able to measure chemicals accurately, must be able to use and operate a spray unit, must be able to lift a backpack sprayer full of chemical and pack on your back for long distances, occasional ATV use.)\ 5.Assist in planting, weeding and harvesting crops. When weeding, must be able to walk long distances and identify weeds and remove them by hand, knife, or hoe).\ 6.Workers may also clear debris and garbage from fields and clean/maintain farm buildings, onion packing facility, structures, equipment, and work areas.\ 7.Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs.\ 8.Clean and repair irrigation ditches.\ 9.Assist in placing and moving bee boards.\ 10.Pest management in fields and farm areas.\ 11.Those who possess a valid drivers license may transport equipment, crops, supplies and workers.\ 12.Operate Hyster to help load and unload equipment, tools and crops.
Flood Irrigation:\ 1.Lift gate inside of flooded irrig tion ditch/pipe permitting water to flow into bordered section of field.\ 2.Shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment of cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow.\ 3.Close gates in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded.\ 4.Open gate or connect pipe to underground pipe system that releases water flow into reservoir or ditch.\ 5.Siphon water from flooded reservoir or ditch to channel water into designated areas.\ 6.Shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water.\ 7.Mix and apply proper solutions to fill holes/cracks in pipes, ditches, and spillways, and make minor repairs to metal, concrete, and wooden frameworks in pipe and ditch valves and gates.\ Drip Irrigation:\ Workers will lay drip tape and remove drip tape in fields during the growing season. They will inspect, monitor, and repair drip system daily.\ Other Irrigation Duties:\ 1.Remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields.\ 2.Lubricate, adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using hand tools.\ 3.Observe Revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water.\ 4.Disassemble, service, and store pipe/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season.\ 5.To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, the worker mus
