Old Dominion Freight Line Intern - Service Center Operations in Parkersburg, West Virginia
To learn OD operations and culture and complete several projects throughout the internship eventually “filling-in” for the operations supervisor during the last few weeks of the program.
Primary Responsibilities
Learn the dock operations by shadowing the SVC Operations Supervisor
Participate in monitoring the daily safety of each employee
Learn and participate in evaluating and teaching safe lifting techniques
Learn proper loading and unloading techniques and ensure compliance
Learn how to manage employee work schedules and time off request
Learn the service center operations and make suggestions for improvements
Learn DOT and OSHA regulations and ensure compliance
Learn AS400, BLU system, DYMS and all other computer/internal freight monitoring systems
Learn to operate a forklift
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent, currently attending college
