4 - 8 hour shift Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Performs/helps train all specimen processing procedures in accordance
with accreditation standards, department procedures and guidelines to
support the delivery of patient care. Includes but is not limited to the
measure and aliquoting of 24 hrs. urines, specimen rejections,
receiving/distribution of samples, Outreach specimen processing, and
operation and maintenance of centrifuges.
Qualifications:
High school diploma
Training in phlebotomy from an accredited program; one-two years of practical experience
Thorough knowledge of asepsis; manual dexterity and accuracy
Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare workers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
Ability to perform in stressful situations; handle large volumes of patients within narrow timeframes
Ability to stand, stoop, push, lift and walk longer distances
Responsibilities
The phlebotomist will draw inpatients
The phlebotomist will perform venipuncture and skin punctures with expertise, precision, and in a customer service oriented fashion, adhering to all established policies and procedures
Includes patient verification and generation of specimen collection labels
Properly packages specimens for delivery through pneumatic tube system
Performs other duties as assigned
