Overview of the Department

Global Corporate & Investment Banking ("GCIB") is the division responsible for managing the Bank's key international client relationships and main financing products (DCM Loans & Bonds, Structured & Project Finance, Securitisation, Working Capital Solutions, FX and IR derivatives, Trade Finance, ECA financing, etc.). The coverage teams manage the global relationships with these groups. GCIB has a deep understanding of clients from a Credit and Strategic perspective, enabling it to offer the right products. At the centre of the client relationship, the Relationship Management teams coordinate the commercial strategy as well as the business lines (Capital Markets FX, Rates, Project Finance, Trade Finance, Global Subsidiary Banking, etc.).

Global Corporate & Investment Banking Paris is in charge of the global relationship with large French corporate groups. Within GCIB Paris, five Assistant Relationship Managers are working closely with the Global Relationship Managers, assisting them in their portfolio coverage.

Main Purpose of the Role

Assist the Global Relationship Managers ("GRM") in all tasks related to managing the client relationships. Help identify and close new and renewed business with a designated group of sophisticated existing and new corporate clients to generate revenue growth in line with our KPIs and cross-selling of multiple products.

The objective of the role is to:

  • Develop, with the GRM, the client relationship by identifying, originating and executing cross-sell transactions, aiming at achieve ambitious commercial targets

  • Maintain and develop client dialogue to propose the best products and solutions

  • Take ownership of key areas of the relationship (for instance International Banking / Transaction Banking), under the responsibility of the GRM

  • Contribute to on-board new clients

  • Support the preparation of internal materials required to execute a transaction.

  • Maintain the data required to analyse the overall profitability of clients globally.

  • Facilitate / coordinate transactions across MUFG's international network.

  • Support the preparation of Marketing pitchbooks for clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Execution of a transaction, including the business and credit approval process, legal documentation, compliance, KYC, operational aspects, etc.

  • Preparation of the capital allocation committee for credit lines (Term-Loans or Revolving Credit Facilities, Syndicated or Bilateral) : liaise with product desks (DCM Loans & Bonds, Project & Structured Finance, FX & swaps, international network, etc.), update historical and forecast revenue figures, liaise with internal teams (credit, portfolio management, Planning etc.), prepare the material (including profitability analysis, historical relationship and business rationale)

  • Preparation with the GRM of the annual account plans, client relationship profitability analysis coordination with product teams

  • Follow-up of client profitability, strategy to improve revenues and ROE

  • Preparing the marketing pitchbooks for the clients by updating the bank's presentation, collecting slides prepared by the product offices and preparing a summary of the relationship. Prepare memos for senior management meetings.

  • Assisting Global Relationship Managers in maintaining an ongoing dialogue with clients in order to maximise opportunities for MUFG to secure future business, and built its own clients contacts.

  • Ensure close cooperation with the product offices to identify new opportunities for the client. In particular, develop a regular dialogue with MUFG's internal branches in charge of multinational clients and liaise with the client at Head Office to facilitate the closing of transactions.

  • Build relationships within MUFG to create a peer network, gather relevant information and help ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.

  • Work with the wider team, GCIB Paris, GCIB EMEA and the MUFG Paris branch to support the various functions as required.

  • Support the KYC team in their checks of our corporate clients in accordance with internal and external processes and procedures.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years successful experience in Corporate & Investment Banking Coverage ideally with a previous experience in a Product function (DCM Loans & Bonds, Project Finance, Securitisation/Working Capital solutions, Leveraged Finance, M&A, Commodity Finance, etc.)

  • International experience and/or exposure is preferred

Skills and Experience

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • Fluent in French & English

  • Solid knowledge of the Corporate and Investment Banking environment, understanding of corporate relationships

  • Knowledge of the main Credit and Market products (bilateral & syndicated loans, FX &swaps, Structured Finance etc)

  • Negotiation skills with internal and external partners

  • Sound credit skills

  • Knowledge of corporate legal documentation

  • A good team player with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to effectively manage tight deadlines and different stakeholders

  • Clear communication skills both written and oral

  • Corporate finance principles/Credit analysis knowledge

EDUCATION

  • Top Business/Engineer school (“Bac+5”), Master in Finance/Business, with a solid Corporate Finance background
