The Role at a Glance
As the Director, Investment Accounting & Ops, you will provide leadership and direction to ensure group results for their assigned investment accounting area(s) of responsibility. You will direct the development and maintenance of accurate, timely and insightful operations, financial reporting, and analysis of invested assets on a GAAP/SEC, Statutory, Tax and Management basis. #LI-REMOTE
What you'll be doing
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.
Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the department.
Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects.
Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure group results for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Directs and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Builds organizational capability within their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides direction on complex investment accounting of invested assets under applicable GAAP/SEC, Statutory, Tax and Management basis.
Directs the oversight of Managed Service Provider (MSP) activity and delivery to ensure deliverables are accurate and on-time.
Directs the collaboration and relationship managements between Lincoln Financial Group and the designated Managed Service Provider. Serves as the senior point of contact for complex escalated issues.
Directs the preparation of complex Investment financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and capital expenditure schedules.
Analyzes, reviews and reports on complex Investment accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
Reviews complex Investment and financial reports and accounting statements to ensure their accuracy.
Directs, conducts and/or participates in investment accounting projects.
Identifies complex investment accounting trends, issues and/or concerns and develops and recommends mitigation solutions to management.
Directs the relationships with internal/external auditors for their assigned area(s) of responsibility and ensures identified issues are resolved complex in a collaborative manner.
Develops, manages, and oversees the budget for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Develops and oversees complex control processes to ensure effective procedures are in place to support internal controls, SOX and accepted accounting policies and principles.
Monitors Sox and internal control procedures, monitors effectiveness and develops/implements more mitigation plans as needed.
Directs the process and provides complex analysis of earning memos and key metrics for the general account team.
Directs the process of financial foot note information for SEC, GAAP and statutory reporting.
Provides complex investment accounting research on high profile general account investments and derivatives.
Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as required.
What we’re looking for
Must-Haves:
7+ Years of experience in accounting, securities or financial reporting that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvements.
Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, retain, develop, and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills.
Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among senior management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.

Pay Range: $87,700 - $159,900
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
