ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigates alleged violations of animal control laws and ordinances; interviews suspected violators and witnesses and gathers appropriate physical evidence; obtains and serves seizure warrants.
{=html} <!-- --> 2. Issues warnings to violators; testifies in court.
{=html} <!-- --> 3. Operates a light duty truck to patrol assigned areas and pick up dog food and supplies.
{=html} <!-- --> 4. Captures and restrains animals by using traps, catch all pole, snares, and tranquilizer dart guns; transports captured animals to the Animal Services Center.
{=html} <!-- --> 5. Answers questions and provides information to the general public regarding animal control laws, ordinances and procedures.
{=html} <!-- --> 6. Maintains files of each investigation; maintains records for each animal impounded; prepares daily reports; logs all incidents concerning animal control.
{=html} <!-- --> 7. Tranquilizes and euthanizes animals by injection; maintains accurate euthanasia records.
8. Observes animals in assigned area for injuries or symptoms of disease, and changes in behavior; reports changes and problems to supervisor.
9. Feeds and waters animals according to schedule.
10. Cleans kennels, cages and enclosures using water hose and hand tools and appropriate cleaning agents and equipment according to schedule.
11. Assists citizens in selecting animals for adoption.\ \ 12. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
13. Performs minor maintenance of facility and equipment.
14. Provides special handling or training for specific animals as required.
