The position will be used to advance the skills and training of the non-staff workforce in the area of auto-electrical maintenance. The position is a hands-on assignment that will work side-by-side with the workforce to ensure knowledge transfer and the use of best practices for the auto-electrical field.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide individual mentoring and training for a select group of maintenance employees that are considered auto-electrical maintenance specialists
The incumbent will work in all areas at PTFI and assist in the trouble-shooting, repair, rewiring and maintenance of the electrical portion of mobile equipment
Undertake various low-voltage electrical repairs on a variety of mobile and plant equipment
Develop and administer specific development plans for a wide range of employees to improve their technical skills in the auto-electrical trade
Review current maintenance programs for all mobile equipment electrical systems throughout PTFI and recommended changes or practices that will better reliability
Work hands-on with the National non-staff workforce to teach them best practices
Assist in developing action plans to better reliability of problematic mobile electrical systems within the PTFI work areas
Identify high potential employees in the organization and assist in creating Personal Development Plans for each
Develop and implement hand tool safety programs so that employees know best practices on how to use the tools
Understand testing equipment and computers for use in mapping out electrical pathways and locating electronic problems or malfunctions in multiple mobile electrical systems
Assist in the planning of maintenance for mobile equipment as needed for auto-electrical work
Ensure schematics and manuals are available for routine auto-electrical maintenance tasks and that the maintenance workforce uses and adheres to recommended practices
Ensure engagement with all maintenance workforces so that they view the incumbent as a resource to call upon when needed for technical support
Track and monitor improvement of the workforce being skilled by the incumbent to ensure continual progress
Support all maintenance groups in the advancement of Papuan employees through better skills
Effectively communicate and work with the National staff employees to mentor and improve their skill sets
Continually reinforce best safety practices and ensure technicians know the hazards associated with working around mechanical drive systems
Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience in auto-electrical maintenance, preferably in underground mobile equipment and plant
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the mining industry, preferably underground
Auto-electrical theory and practices, trade classes or apprenticeship preferred
Basic education in standard curriculum
Ability to read blue prints, schematics and manuals
Understanding of basic low-voltage electrical trouble-shooting tools and practices
Teaching and mentoring capabilities
Ability to use precision low-voltage electrical equipment
Manual dexterity and an eye for detail
Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
Analytical and problem solving skills
Knowledge of mathematics and mechanics
Identification of safety hazards and a keen sense of safety practices
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Ability to think under stressful, adverse conditions
Teamwork, problem solving and negotiation skills
Other PTFI mandatory skills – safety, training, leadership
Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
