The Speech Therapist helps children with language and hearing disorders develop the communication skills needed for self-expression, social interaction, academic success, and employment. Primary Job Functions

  1. Work with children with language and hearing disorders to develop skills and contribute to their overall success.
  • Diagnose and treat such disorders as stuttering, delayed or impaired language, and voice and speaking problems.

  • Observe and test speech, language, hearing, and perception.

  • Plan, direct and/or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicated efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and non-organic etiology.

  • Provide language development therapy.

  • Review individual file to obtain background information to determine appropriate tests.

  • Develop and implement individualized plans for assigned clients to meet individual needs, interests and abilities.

  • Evaluate and monitor individuals using audio-visual equipment.

  • Review treatment plan and modify or write new programs.

  • Appropriately document and maintain records as required by law and administrative regulations.

  • Evaluate children and develop an Individual Family Support Plan.

  • Provide direct therapy to the child and the child's family in the child's natural environment.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams as required.

  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.

  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited university, required; Doctoral degree, preferred.

  • Valid State of Florida Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) License, required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Medicaid provider number, required.

  • CPR Certification, preferred.

  • Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire required, with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.

Experience:

  • One year of speech language therapy experience in a pediatric setting, required.

  • AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT | DIAGNOSIS OF SPEECH & LANGUAGE DISORDERS

Skills and Proficiency in:

  • Planning, project management, organization and time management

  • Oral and written communication, including presentation and platform

  • Collaboration, teamwork, consulting, facilitation, coaching and mentoring

  • Computer systems and MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook

*The bonus will be paid in two installments with the first being after successful completion of your 90-day orientation period and the second installment being after your 12 months of service. This sign-on bonus is taxable; all regular payroll taxes will be withheld. In the event that you leave CHS within 12 months of your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing CHS for the sign-on bonus at a pro-rated amount.
