POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing EKG and application of Holter Monitor to record patient cardiac rhythm data for diagnostic purposes. Maintains accurate Pyramis archival system for storage of digital studies, assigns digital studies to reading physicians and assures study results distribution to patient charts and referring physician offices after physician interpretation and upon request. Primary participant in CODE 1 call, and participates in all quality assurance projects with data collection and documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Performance of a Quality Diagnostic EKG or Holter study w/ capability to trouble shoot study difficulties and possible study deficiencies for every age group. * Timely performance of digital EKG and computer upload, and EKG assignment for Physician Interpretation. * Accurate patient identification, data entry and data base maintenance * Educates patient on study being completed * Timely and accurate report distribution to IP floors and Physician offices * Friendly assistant support to all customer base, Patients, staff, physicians, offices staff. * Timely, accurate participation and data entry on all Quality Assurance projects and “critical value” QA * Completion of Dept. shift report, study associated charges and all documentation to assure quality dept communication and function. * Cleans equipment, stocks area and machines. * Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm. * Supports team members and assists in the orientation and skill development of team members. * Various other duties If GXT capable: In additional to 12 lead EKG hookup, skin prep and trouble shooting capabilities listed above: * Accurately Identifies patient and completes patient transfer to the GXT lab for timely study performance. * Educates the patient about the Stress test and eases patient anxiety or concerns. * Completes timely and quality patient prep for Stress study. * Communicates professionally and knowledgably with the Cardiologist in scheduling, performance of study, and interpretation of results for transcription of patient study. * Is knowledgeable of Stress test process and procedure, enters data accurately in stress console, is prepared to perform each type of Stress Test and of each Cardiologists treatment preferences when completing Treadmill stress test, nuclear stress test, or any type of pharmacological stress test. * Works cohesively with the Nuclear Med Technicians to provide timely, efficient studies and quality patient experience.* ** * * Study reports are transcribed and Faxed to referring physician offices immediately (same day). * Supports Quality Assurance projects * Various other duties as assigned
