Job Summary
: This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Borough roads and streets.

Minimum Requirements
: High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Including, but not limited to: Equipment operations, basic computer skills and knowledge of MSB road system. Possession of a valid Class A, Commercial Driver's License issued by the State of Alaska and possession of a valid Department of Transportation medical card is required. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer employment physical. This position is subject to federal drug and alcohol testing provisions. Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.Duties/Responsibilities
: - Provides direction to road construction and maintenance crews in the repair and maintenance of roadways, utility facilities, and underground drainage systems. - Responds to emergency and disaster-related events. - Conducts pre-construction preparations and briefings. - Ensures compliance with safe work practices and construction standards. - Provides training to assigned personnel. - Conducts pavement patching, culvert thawing, crack sealing operations, sewer system repairs, and storm drain maintenance. - Operates and maintains steam boilers, asphalt reclaimers and other road maintenance equipment. - Responds to and resolves complaints from Borough residents. - Directs employees in road striping operations. - Operates and maintains brush removal equipment and supervises brush removal and tree-cutting operations. - Directs the use of street sweeping equipment and snow plows. - Directs construction, repair and maintenance of road signs. - Performs related duties.
