The position of Senior Manager, Contract Accounting at Otis North America supports the accounting and reporting process for all contract accounting activities. This position provides frequent exposure to executive leadership and interfaces directly with Otis America’s management, inclusive of the Controller’s and Financial Planning and Analysis departments, and Operating unit management. Responsibilities include (and are not limited to):

On a typical day you will:

  • Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, as it relates to all areas of long-term contract accounting, inclusive of reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and approving journal entries

  • Lead and manage a team of specialist who currently support US and Canada Operating units with all contract related activities and analysis

  • Provide in-depth analysis of business performance and highlight risk and opportunities related to risks and opportunities related to our New Equipment and Service portfolio of contracts

  • Review contracts financial results and analytical deliverables to validate completeness and accuracy of the reported results. Work with the Operating units to resolve any issues

  • Prepare and/or review financial data (including HFM supplemental data) for Corporate Reporting, inclusive of balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive initiatives through implementation and enhancement of standard work documentation

  • Assist in maintaining internal controls, desktop procedures, administer department policies and procedures to assure robust internal controls.

  • Support Internal and External audits.

  • Proactive leader in supporting the Operating units with timely and accurate information that enables them to make logical financial decisions.

  • Support tax compliance matters

  • Lead and self-manage special projects and ad hoc reporting as required

What You Will Need to be Successful :

  • 8+ years of experience in accounting, auditing or finance required (ASC 606 experience preferable)

  • Self-starter who takes ownership and initiative

  • Intellectual curiosity, with the ability to identify process enhancements that may improve business performance (e.g., automation tools)

  • Strong interpretation, analytical and summarization skills; able to interpret data and come up with observations and recommendations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Teamwork- able to work out complex problems with a team

  • Experience in coordinating activities with offshore teams of resources

  • Must be able to work additional hours as required due to time-sensitive deadlines

  • Strong PC skills including advanced knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), JD Edwards, Smart View, and QlikView preferred

  • Advanced skills in Excel (Pivot tables, vLookup)

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred

  • CPA license not required but preferred
