Position Summary: This position is to manage the shift(s) and all direct reports in a manner to ensure smooth operation of the production process. To ensure on specification production that meets targets and deadlines while complying with Health and Safety procedures.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current, detailed knowledge and understanding of unit equipment and unit operations.

  • To take full responsibility of the shift(s) by supervising daily operations to ensure Production Operators/Shift Leads are performing the assigned responsibilities.

  • Ensure the Standard Operating Procedures and Processes are being utilized to safely meet product quality specifications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of appropriate production paperwork (batch sheets, movement log, LOTO, safe work permits, scrubber logs, pump PM’s, safety checklist)

  • Review and audit Near Miss Reports.

  • Update and maintain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) records and documentation.

  • Makes regular rounds of the facility to ensure proper operations and correct unsafe acts or practices.

  • Maintain familiarity of safe handling, regulatory compliance, and emergency response for products in responsible production area.

  • Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures and participate in plant safety processes.

  • Maintain and enforce good housekeeping and keep the plant free from debris, spills, and waste.

  • Train, mentor and motivate Production Operators.

  • Complete a shift change report and work closely with other shift supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective communication tools.

  • Maintain timekeeping for direct reports.

Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university.

  • Alkoxylation experience, preferred.

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of chemistry, a plus

  • 3-5 years of prior supervision experience in a chemical/industrial environment, required.

  • Good communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as function independently.

  • Must be willing to be available day or night and work overtime as business needs require.

  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and in inclement weather.

  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs, tanks, railcars, tank trucks and ladders.
