Position Summary :

The positions objective is to deliver site targets by ensuring the facility structure, utilities, manufacturing systems and equipment are maintained to a world class standard. The operational support group will assist in projects to deliver quality, productivity, safety and cost saving improvements. The primary function of the role is to ensure that the facility and manufacturing process continues to deliver world class products as efficiently as possible through effective preventative maintenance, emergency breakdown response and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of the operational support engineer I is to ensure that the facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment are maintained to the accurate standard.

  • Participate as a team member in multi-functional corporate site projects, taking ownership and responsibility in delivering actions and tasks specific to the operational support team.

  • Use trouble shooting & problem-solving techniques to ensure any facility, facility systems and manufacturing equipment issues are investigated & repaired in a timely manner.

  • Complete & monitor essential preventative maintenance tasks

  • Complete & monitor essential corrective work order tasks

  • Update, review and analyse department important metrics (daily/weekly/monthly) to ensure operational support teams performance is being achieved and maintained along with identifying improvement opportunities using data driven decisions.

  • Work in partnership with other departments to develop and improve the current facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment to help deliver change and improve key performance metrics & goals

  • Supervise contractors ensuring site safety and compliance adhered to at all times.

  • Responsible for issuing Permit to Works and review of RAMS

Key Skills required:

  • Good Technical knowledge of process and equipment facility maintenance

  • Solid understanding of control systems including Siemens & Allen Bradley

  • Practical experience of facility & manufacturing equipment maintenance, solving issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Good communication skills – works across functions

  • Results driven

  • Ability to learn and develop current skills and behaviors to progress within the function and lead by example.

  • Ability to build links with current and new vendors to develop processes and system to drive continuous improvement within manufacturing process using

  • Knowledge of process excellence techniques; lean manufacturing, Six sigma and SPC etc.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum HNC or City in guilds in an engineering field

  • Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment would be desirable but not crucial

  • Previous experience of working within team and delivering projects.

  • Experience of working and maintaining facility & process equipment

  • Role could require occasional travel and out of hours working

  • Role will require working in controlled environments e.g. Cleanroom
