Overview

Corning’s summer internship experience is rich with hands-on learning. You’ll live, work, and experience the communities in which Corning operates, while building on-the-job skills. As our Intern, you will be involved with Corning’s Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering division (MTE) which is recognized as the leader in engineering excellence & Innovative manufacturing technologies by providing diverse skills to Corning’s existing & emerging businesses.

The purpose of our Intern / Co-op Program is to raise the bar on talent by strengthening our pipeline for entry level roles for our immediate and future needs. To be considered for an internship or Co-op at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree. A current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale) is desired. Scope of Position

This is a technical intern position where you will be expected to apply rigorous scientific method and mechanistic understanding to projects across Corning’s business platforms including display technologies, specialty materials, optical communications, environmental & technologies, or life sciences. The work requires you to be able to influence across organizational boundaries. You may be asked to collaborate with cross functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and research and development. Other common responsibilities include experiment design, method or process development, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • You will generate hypotheses, design equipment and/or experiments, and analyze data in pursuit of fundamental understanding or process development.

  • You will conduct hands on work in a laboratory and may interact in a pilot or manufacturing environment. Note the environment can involve high temperatures, chemical hazards, and physical hazards (lasers, etc.). Proper training and personal protective equipment will be provided.

  • You will communicate project status and updates to both the project team and to management, including memos, technical reports and verbal presentations.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some project specific travel may be expected

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • M-F; business hours

  • Some scheduling flexibility available

Education and Experiences Required

  • Minimum of 2+ years working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. Preference is for students who will have completed their 3rd year of a BS level college engineering program prior to starting the internship and will be graduating within 12 months of finishing the internship.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Previous industrial experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Corning processes and business systems as well as being passionate about learning new technologies and innovation

  • Experience with software, such as Excel, JMP, MatLab, etc.

Requirements:

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
