POSITION SUMMARY
The Baking Technologist position requires the individual to perform a variety of baking and applications tests designed to optimize the performance of existing products as well as assisting in the development of new and innovative Vantage Food ingredients and processing aids used in baked goods and other food applications. The position will be based at our Carnegie, PA manufacturing facility.
POSITION SCOPE
To contribute to the achievement of Company objectives by supporting the short, medium and long-term research and development for Vantage Food. As a member of the Food Technology team, the employee’s work is primarily in the evaluation and development of new/improved products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Design, manage and execute product experiments for current and innovative ingredients as well as processing aids for baked good and other food applications.
Maintain and manage a laboratory environment including managing and organizing materials, ingredients, formulations and experimental records.
Develop and design recipes to demonstrate product performance and the value of Vantage Food products in baked good and other food applications.
Support business growth by working with the Account Aligned Teams (AATs) to assist customers with product development and reformulation.
Support the successful launch and scale-up of new products and cost optimization projects in conjunction with the Quality, Production, Operations, Product Management, Marketing and R&D teams.

The Ideal Candidate
Has a combination of education, training and experience in food applications. Preference is given to candidates with any of the following:
Work experience in a commercial bakery.
Experience working in a food laboratory setting with proper management of experimental formula management.
BS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field.

Strong planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Office Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently to complete projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision is necessary.
