Responsibilities

In keeping with Dignity Health philosophy and values this specialist provides a variety of specialty services to Outpatients and Inpatients in the perinatal/maternal/newborn setting. These services include but are not limited to out-patient antepartum testing and out-patient newborn hearing screening; lactation assessment support education and consultation; instruction in various maternal/infant education programs and facilitates the breastpump rental program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Lactation assessment facilitation and support experience required

  • One (1) year health education experience required.

  • Current California RN license required.

  • CPR

  • CLE or CLC required (Lactation certifications).

  • Fluent in English Preferred:

  • ILCBC certification preferred

  • Related mother-baby experience preferred.

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing Health Education or related field is highly desirable.

  • Masters degree preferred.

  • Bilingual in Spanish also preferred.

  • Special Skills: Ability to work effectively with a team to plan develop and implement programs. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Identifies and helps develop services based on needs assessment designed to promote patient/family health. Demonstrates independence and a strong attention to detail. Provides appropriate age-specific educational materials to variety of patient populations ranging from childhood to the elderly. Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles. Demonstrates open communication and cultural sensitivity resulting in trusting relationships with diverse populations. Behaviors support service excellence and patient-focused care. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the principles methods and practices of parenting perinatal health and fitness nutrition the birth process and complication/disease prevention. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with team members members of other departments community members and medical staff. Effectively assesses and prioritizes health education needs of pre and/or postnatal patients. Positively markets the organization through successful outcomes and customer satisfaction. Successful utilization of a variety of computer systems.

Pay Range

$47.82 - $70.15 /hour
