Respiratory Therapist I - Respiratory Therapy

St. John's Regional Medical Center

Per Diem

We are seeking a highly motivated Respiratory Therapist I to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of respiratory care principles and practices, and be proficient in providing a wide range of respiratory care services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory conditions

  • Develop and implement respiratory care plans

  • Administer oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory medications

  • Perform chest physiotherapy and other airway clearance techniques

  • Monitor and interpret respiratory function tests

  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care management

  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest respiratory care practices and technologies

Qualifications

  • A recent graduate of an approved Respiratory therapy program with less than six (6) months experience

  • Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure (CT RCP)

  • Current AHA CPR certification (CT CPR BLS)

  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Special Skills:

  • Demonstrates proficient and technical skills in the performance of respiratory therapies.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of current trends in respiratory therapies; specialty technical standards equipment and supplies; safety principles and practices.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

  • Establishes effective working relationships with other departments medical staff and co-workers; treats public courteously tactfully and professionally.

  • Meets Dignity Health standard physical requirements for staff involved in direct patient care.

This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$44.63 - $54.96/hour
