Granville Medical Center Athletic Trainer in Oxford, North Carolina

Position Summary

The athletic trainer will practice said profession within the parameters of the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. These duties are based on the needs of Granville County and its athletic programs as well as Granville Health System. The athletic trainer's duties, enumerated in this document, should not be considered all-inclusive. The Rehab Clinical Manager in coordination with the High School Athletic Director, as necessary, shall modify duties. The athletic trainer will be present at home athletic contests and practices and will attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as coordinated by the Rehab Clinical Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

Establish an effective athletic training program for Granville County high school athletics.

Provide 1st aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning for Granville County student-athletes. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referrals.

Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sports season to the conclusion of the spring season.

Coordinate the annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sports seasons.

Maintain a line of communication with the Medical Director regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries at appropriate facilities.

Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods and maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.

Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athletes.

File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents and maintain a daily treatment log.

Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory.

Equip each team with appropriate medical equipment and assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces.

Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks

Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school's coaching staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Maintain current state licensure in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners

Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification

Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care.

Job related experience within a middle school / high school setting is preferred.
