Position Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Physical Acoustics for the Fall of 2025. Seeking candidates from any area of physical acoustics that complements or diversifies the research interests of this department. The Department has a well-established legacy in physical acoustics and is associated with the National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) on the University of Mississippi campus. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for a secondary affiliation with the Center, which has strong ties in the international acoustics community. Current research efforts include biomedical and physical ultrasonics, ocean acoustics, atmospheric acoustics, infrasonics, acoustic metamaterials, acousto-fluidics and related areas including fluid dynamics, material evaluation, and aeroacoustics. Candidates are expected to develop a research program capable of supporting and leading graduate students to a Ph.D. A competitive startup package is available. A Ph.D. in Physics or a related field is required. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the teaching and service activities of the Department and the University. Teaching duties include up to three courses a year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Physics or a related field is required. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the teaching and service activities of the Department and the University. Teaching duties include up to three courses a year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
