SUMMARY:
Perform RF/Microwave Design from initial documentation of design requirements through design validation, and release to production. Support program design team involved in Navigational Aid (NAVAID) design.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and support electronic hardware using both simulation and benchwork, from 75MHz to 1500MHz, with an emphasis on L-Band Pulse Power Design, that implements required functionality to meet our customers objectives and product specifications.
Responsible for microstrip / stripline design and construction, high power pulsed RF amplifier design, RF circuit layout, and RF circuit analysis software (Touchstone or equivalent).
Work within the complete product lifecycle - from conceptual design, circuit design, integration, qualification and manufacturing handoff.
Design Power Splitters, Combiners, and Modulators.
Design and document circuits through preparation of specifications, circuit designs, lists of materials, test procedures, schematic capture, drawings and system operation of RF electronic hardware, equipment and systems under medium level supervision. Support development & improvement of products, test procedures, test methods, consultation, and fault isolation
Responsible for tracking and meeting development schedules.
May interface directly with customers across Government, Department of Defense, FAA, Avionics, or Civil Aviation, etc.
Support Programs Department involved in Navigational Aides (NAVAIDS) Design.
Participates and contributes in the Quality Improvement Process.

An analog design background is also highly desirable.
Must be capable of designing power splitters, combiners and modulators for the amplifiers described.
Accountable to Digital, Power, and Low Speed Design, L-Band Aviation Tech (Mode-S, UAT, DME, etc.), Pulsed L-Band or adjacent band transmitters, Analog, and comparable general Aviation or Aerospace experience.
Familiar with testing and troubleshooting hardware circuits using test equipment including tools like: Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Multimeters, PCB Design Software (Altium), Circuit Simulation Software (Spice, Lt Spice, etc.), Digital Communication Interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS422), Microcontrollers, and Filters.
Experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required: Peak and Average Power Meters, Spectrum & Vector Signal Analyzers (2-6 GHz), Modulation Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Vector Signal Generators, Pulse Generators, & Function Generators, Navaid & DS-B Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes (100 MHz 2GHz), Frequency Counters (2 GHz), RF Loads, Splitter/Combiners, Attenuators, Adapters, DC Power Supplies (10W 1.5kW) & DC Load, DMM, Clamp, & Temperature Meters, HALT/HASS Chamber
Ability to communicate technical concepts to peers, management, customers, etc. in both verbal and written form
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and test equipment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors from an ABET accredited College or University in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another related technical discipline
2+ years experience in RF/Microwave Design Engineering
Experience with FPGA, NAVAIDS, ADS-B, Transponders, TCAS, SSR/IFF beneficial, but not required
Experience with RF based systems for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Defense (DOD), Avionics, or Navigation Applications
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to pass a U.S. government background check investigation.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
