The Eighth Judicial District Court Administration (based in Wapello County, Ottumwa, Iowa) has an immediate opening for a Judicial Specialist 2. Travel is required to neighboring counties to assist as needed.
The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial Branch employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting hourly pay for this position is $18.59 hourly / $1,487.20 bi-weekly. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.

Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Under direct supervision of court administration, responsibilities of this position will include:
Learning the complexities of our court case processing system using our statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS)
Providing clerical support for Judges
Troubleshoot, operate, and monitor electronic recording equipment in the courtroom when recording court events
May occasionally involve travel to other counties in the district

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program.
Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service. At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.
OR, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
